Workshop on Ecosystem Approaches to “Strengthening capacity to control the introduction and spread of invasive alien species in Sri Lanka” Management |
There are no translations available. Biodiversity Secretariat (BDS) of the State Ministry of Environment is implementing the above project with the support of GEF/UNDP. This Project will support the development of an enabling policy and legal environment for effective control and management of invasive alien species (IAS) in Sri Lanka and project will enhance integrated management planning and action for the prevention, detection and management of IAS. Mid Term Review of the project recommend to use ecosystem approach to IAS management as basic vision of the project within the consolidation phase. Bio diversity Secretariat has organized training programme on ecosystem approaches to IAS management for the project staff and key stakeholders dated on 18th May 2015 at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration. The programme was facilitated by an international expert Dr. Judy Fischer. Consolidation Workshop IAS Project 2015Biodiversity Secretariat of the State Ministry of Environment is implementing âStrengthening capacity to control the introduction and spread of invasive alien species in Sri Lanka project with the support of GEF /UNDP. This project will support establishment of comprehensive regulatory framework, integrated institutional mechanism and cost effective control mechanisms on IAS control and management methods in Sri Lanka. As a main event of accomplishing this task, Biodiversity Secretariat has organized two days consolidation workshop 29th 30th June for the project staff and stake holder organizations which is facilitated by a Center for poverty Analysis. |
