An Initiation Workshop on National Red Listing

Biodiversity Secretariat contribution made throughout the compilation of the National Red List 2012 of Sri Lanka which is of very much importance to the conservation agenda of fauna and flora in the country.

The Red Listing process base on the published/unpublished scientific literature, publications, researches , experts comments based on population distribution, geographical range, population/population dynamics, biology and Conservation status of species, habitat & ecology threats, conservation Actions, analysis on conservation status, Variations ,Taxonomical Synonyms, of flora and fauna of the Country. The analyses of the findings were incorporated and published regularly approximately in every four to five years and, the total faunal/ flora species are not reassessed each updating process. Hence Biodiversity Secretariat has responsible to publishing Red List for year 2016.As a results of that organized Initiation Workshop on National Red listing on 16th June 2016 at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration. The experts from all the fauna and flora groups were participated in this workshop and valuable comments were received in this workshop.
